When TIWs get together....The Mamie Mass...

Mathew was dying to do another, and KA was begging, so...
Quite difficult to get this relay (2nd of its kind) rolling, not difficult to do, but so many posts happened, it was tricky to see the wood for the trees, or the jello for the mayo. This time K.A. DaVur joined in for a bit of fun about her hair and the hair of others in TIW. It continued on after this a little, but here's the beginning, short and jello-bean sweet...

Dani J Caile
Once upon a time, in a land of wealth and honour, there lived Amanda who was proud of her immense hair. Every day she would take selfies and post them on facebook, selfies which showed off her humongous mountain of fiberous scalpular growth and put many other women to shame, until, that is, she woke up one morning to see the largest, wildest bundle of hair to ever be put forth before her..the Mamie Mass...
KA DaVur
It was magnificent. It had a volume, a height that simply could not be matched by those unfortunate enough to be born North of the Mason-Dixon line. "Well, then," Amanda thought, "it's simple. .. "
Mathew W. Weaver
...selfie time again," Her camera, ever within reach, clicked and whirred, ready for the shot to end all shots. Amanda pouted, her duckface perfect, her Maime Mass carefully piled. But just when the shutter clicked....
Dani J Caile
...her pet blonde pompom came into view, stealing the limelight from her pouting selfness and destroying the last pitiful chance she ever had of dethroning the Mamie Mass from its rightful position as heir to the title of..."
Mathew W. Weaver
.... Queen of the Ducks. "Nay, this cannot be!" Amanda cried, "For tis mine right and mine crown that thou attempteth to steal!" The pompom looked up at her, the warmth in its eyes enough to melteth the coldest fury, and said....
Dani J Caile
"....Jello Fight!"

TIW Thanks (7) - Jordan Bell

TIW Thanks No.7 goes to....Jordan Bell!...that facebook profile picture changer of all seasons!

Jordan is a great guy, my nemesis in the Weekend Quickies. We always tried to be the first to post them in the first 20+ weeks, though I never kept count, it was just fun to 'compete'. A great writer, he's done some TIW Challenges and is always up for a laugh...Ring-a-ding-a-ling! Jordan...wait!...I hear something...is it? Yes! Yes, it is!...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHNdoIWxXDk (hehe)

Jordan is also an active admin in TIW and will also instigate the Relays (once he's dealt with some issues).
Oh, and here's his blog, where you can find plenty of his writing work :-)
I hope to see more of his work in longer form...

When TIW's get together..."The Goatee of Neal"

Every day, something funny happens on TIW facebook page. If I'm lucky, I'm a part of it. Sometimes I miss out, sometimes I instigate. But above all, the TIWs try to have fun.
Today was no different. A respected (as we all are) member of TIW, Neal Sayatovich, decided to change his own facebook profile picture. I won't reproduce the picture here, you can use your large and expansive imaginations...no, hang on, scratch that, here it is, on a post on his blog about this 'happening' (http://nsayatovich.wordpress.com/2014/05/04/making-an-impression/).
Myself and another TIW, Mathew W. Weaver (his wonderful post of the 'event' can be found here...http://ramblingsandraving.blogspot.hu/2014/05/the-tale-of-depressed-goatee-when-tiws.html) took it upon ourselves to show humble respect for the man with the green goatee by posting an impromtu unplanned relay story. I had to share it...so, with permission from both Mathew and Neal, here it is :-) Enjoy! (Numerous friends laughed their guts out).

Dani J Caile
Neal loved his pet beard. It was the most loyal and warm of all his clumps of facial hair, and on cold wet morning walks it would save its master's chin from the perils of the northern winds.
Mathew W. Weaver
The relationship Neal shared with his goatee went beyond that of mere man and beard. It was a bond of unity, of brotherhood, of love beyond measure.
But neither could have seen how this bond was to be put to the test, when that fateful morning, Neal looked into the mirror to see the newly growing sproutlings of a pair of sideburns.
Dani J Caile
And there the dilemma began, a rivalry never seen before on the face of Neal. At first the sideburns were mere ornaments, emphasizing the manly contours of his broad face, but then they grew, unabated until they too became a major feature on Neal's facebook profile picture.
Mathew W. Weaver
Goatee began to feel it was being left out. All the facebook selfies Neal took now displayed the unabashed glory of those chunky sideburns... and yet never failed to heartlessly crop out the lower half of Goatee's dwindling majesty.
Dani J Caile
For a while, all was calm, one existing without the other, each reigning over their own territories of their master's domain, basking in their own prickily existence, until that one fateful day when their hairs intwined...
Mathew W. Weaver
...the day when Neal, while stroking Goatee, reached up and began to stroke The Sideburns as well. To Goatee, the abandonment was raw, undefinable. That its strokes were being usurped by stubble of much lower birth....
Dani J Caile
...and higher altitude. Goatee had no other choice but to summon the help of his dear old friend and patriot, Comb, to suppress and push down The Sideburns' audacity!
Mathew W. Weaver
But Comb, though literally a lifelong friend to Goatee, would not take its side. As despair, dismay and hurt grew, Goatee began to lose weight. It would wake up every morning feeling more brittle than the day before, and grew paler as the days passed.
Dani J Caile
It wasn't long before Goatee, once filled with life and vigor hitherto seen upon Neal's face, lost all hope and sadly turned into the bedraggled green mass of facial bristles that can now be witnessed on facebook.
Mathew W. Weaver
Remorse overcame The Sideburns. They never meant for Goatee to lose its lustre, shed its shine, turn into the patch of fungus that it resembled now. For the sake of Goatee, their stricken brethren, they decided to let go of life, to moult away and leave Neal's cheeks as soft and as baby's bottom smooth as it had been before the troubles began.

TIW Thanks (6) - Michael D. Pitman

Already at 6? Wow...today it's Michael!
Michael has been with TIW right from the start and has been in the background, and a few Challenges, doing WAY more than his bit.He is a ROCK...and a journalist :-)
He has been a newspaper reporter since 1999, covering local and county governments in Butler and Warren counties in Southwest Ohio. In 2010, he began to turn to short story writing after falling out of practice in his post-college years.
After honing the skills of a short story writer, which is still a work in progress, M.D. aims to add published short story writer to his list of accomplishments as a journalist, which include a number of individual and team Ohio Newspaper Association honors. He also enjoys the works of Ernest Hemingway and Hunter S. Thompson. When M.D. is not working on his craft, he can be found spending time with his wife and two daughters, or helping out with the wrestlers at Wyoming High School. M.D. has lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, and its suburbs, all his life. - See more at: http://theironwriter.com/the-authors/michael-pitman/#sthash.1iiuVU5h.dpuf
I was teamed with him in a Grudge match, which ultimately got me into the Winter Open, which I finally won :-) So, I've gotta say "Thanks, Mike, I'm shitting bricks now."
Let's see if I can find one of his stories...here. Spring Equinox Open "The Job. Part 1"(you'll have to scroll down a little) :-)

He also loves Cincinnati Bengals and other sporty stuff in Cincinnati. I'm sure we'll be hearing about him in the near future sometime :-)

TIW Thanks (5) - Mamie Willoughby Pound

Yes, it's No.5 TIW thanks...it's Mamie! :-)
Mamie Willoughby Pound is the creator of the Weekend Quickie over on TIW website...here's the latest from last Saturday, my story is there if you scroll down (http://theironwriter.com/weekend-quickie-33/)
This 200 word challenge is open to all and is just as much fun as the usual weekly challenge, if not more so due to no voting and no judging. Sometimes replies and remarks appear :-)
She also sorts out the judging list (a BIG job) and likes to rattle other TIW's on the facebook page (including me).
Mamie hasn't written any books yet, 'least I don't know about it, but has put up some great Weekly Challenges and Quickies.
I distinctly remember a certain challenge...Here it is..."Conversation Hearts" :-) (you'll need to scroll down a bit)

TIW Thanks (4) - Amanda Rotach Huntley

Yes, it's the 4th TIW thanks in the lead-up to the TIW Final!
Today it's....Amanda!
Amanda, or K.A. DaVur as readers know her as, has been the heroine of TIW since its inception, always doing a Challenge, always ready to advertise at a convention or fair, always there to help out fellow TIWs, always there to whip up a storm or congratulate/slap someone within the facebook group. There's nothing this person hasn't done for TIW and its members! She should get an award! But all I can give is a post...so I have :-)
As well as writing many great stories for TIW Challenges, she also runs TWO publishing houses (Line By Lion Publications (http://www.linebylion.com/) and  Three Fates Press (http://www.3fatespress.com/) and has a book I hope to read it one day....

Fantastic Review! 'Manna-X'

Thanks to DL Zwissler, a great writer, for her in-depth review of 'Manna-X'.
It came when I was feeling bad, burning a bridge. I'm still reading a few of her books ATM and finding them extremely well-written and engrossingly entertaining!
Here's her review which is on Amazon :-)
Maybe more people will buy it now?

5.0 out of 5 stars Insanely good..., May 1, 2014

If you are a smart person, and I am assuming that you are since you have somehow stumbled upon this page, then you will pick up this book right away. I hate to even say this, given the book, but... HOLY HELL... this book is unbelievable. This is certainly a 'new take' on anything religious that I have ever read. I had many emotions while reading this book. The characters are contagious--in many ways--to your soul. You will laugh out loud at many of the parts in the book, and as the author says in the beginning--the dialogue is just--wow! I actually started this book last night at around 10:50 and finished it at 6 this morning. I couldn't put it down! It was sarcastic, religious--but not in your face--it was a funny story that was just clever and amusing and outrageous. The bots...I don't even know what to say about this book other than the fact that it was completely different than I thought it would be when I started. The beginning of the book was hilarious. I felt myself being pulled into the story and enjoyed myself the entire time.
Lucifer was awesomely perfect and Alicia was great, too. I don't think I have ever read anything so imaginative in my life. I'm looking forward to reading more of Dani's books.
