Back to the Wilderness!

It's quite disheartening when nothing happens for a week. Okay, I was able to re-write one chapter of the new book but nothing much else. No sales, no KENP, no reviews... but that's okay, I'm still the same person... or am I? A lot of things have changed. Thankfully I know in which direction I wish to write the new book, but when do I get the time AND the feel for it? Soon, I hope.

A little self-reflection + SALES!

These last few weeks, especially last one, was tough in many ways. Sometimes you get times in your life when everything hits the fan at the same time - well, that was last week. At the end of it all (well, not ended yet but anyway...) Things change. We all move on. Sometimes you need to take a few steps back in order to move forwards.

A little self-reflection with the new book has shown me where I should take it. Once I find the time and energy, I'll get right on it.

2022... back to the Amazon Wastelands...

With 8 books out in two years, I had some small success in 2020 and 2021 thanks to the support of Jasper T Scott, USA Today bestselling author and a few others along the way. I achieved the best I've ever done in all categories, sales, reviews and ratings (good and bad), and KENP! It felt good to finally get some readers and activity!

And now... well, now it's 2022. I'm working on the next book/series connected to this sci-fi futuristic world... or is it futuristic at all? Anyway, so I'm basically back to the Amazon Wastelands of non-existent sales and reviews until I can get something else out and beg on my hands and knees for another promo lift...

Don't Look Up! - FANTASTIC! (slight *spoiler* alert)

I have watched thousands of movies. I know I haven't watched ALL the films ever made because that would be insane... so many countries, so much time since the beginning of the genre. But I have watched a wonderful range from what's to offer out there, from silent movie times all the way to CGI. Nowadays I try to keep up, watch the latest, see if I can find a gem. There are great films, for example only this year... King Richard, now that is a film, Will Smith hasn't lost it (so many good Will Smith films). But Don't Look Up? THIS film is a diamond.

If you haven't watched Don't Look Up yet, go and watch it NOW.

Armageddon is one of Bruce Willis' best films, but was it realistic? It was 'all American' and 'gung ho', but... Don't Look Up takes the same scenario and places it in the world of the USA today, a world controlled by social media/multibillionaires and the politicians they buy. I can't say much more about it without spoiling the experience. But I believe this film brings up the many problems we face today, how shallow and self-centred we as a species really are. I'd love to say more, but... change comes from within.

Nicolas Cage - Prisoner of the Ghostland...

Before I tackle 'Don't Look Up' (see my tweets on Twitter... such a great movie), I'd like to rant a little about Prisoner of the Ghostland, Nicolas Cage's 2021 effort.

Sure, everyone can remember Conair (1997), that was great in a 'gung ho' kinda way, and even Raising Arizona (1987). Can you remember The Weatherman (2005)? I thought that was thought-provoking. I went through a spate of watching Cage movies, they had a certain 'charm'. But then, one after another, typecast or otherwise, they got really bad. The National Treasure films were fun, if nothing else. But this latest? Prisoner of the Ghostland? It rivals Bruce Willis' latest efforts. Damn, it's not right. Go and see... no, on second thoughts, don't. Take my word for it. I've seen movies worth watching with Cage in them. This isn't one of them, no matter how many people try to say how 'bizarre' it is - it's not, it's just bad.

Update: For anyone interested, there's some kind of preacher in Ghostland, and I think he's reading passages from Wuthering Heights. Also, to put a neon sign saying 'Crazy' on the front of a truck that doesn't actually go anywhere to try and show how 'crazy' everything is, well... just isn't crazy.
