No One Knows how to Work a Pedestrian Crossing...

Still working on a few short stories for Dani's Shorts 9. I was wondering if I could make a novel from them. I'll need to look through them, see which ones have something in common, I'm sure there are many.

Today... I was running between places of work and got to one of the pedestrian crossings of the main road. There were half a dozen people on either side waiting for the light. It was sunny, so I went over to check if anyone had hit for it, as it's not automatic. No one had hit the button. They'd been standing there for at least five minutes. I hit the button and they all instantly looked at me as though I was the idiot. Then I proceeded to walk across without a green light. People.

Ghosts, Hooligans and Traffic Wardens

 It's been a strange week... and it hasn't finished yet.

I've written a few short stories to try and get Dani's Shorts 9 completed. That's been nice.

One morning I found what I can only describe as a ghost writing messages on my back, letter by letter. I didn't catch every letter, but there was something about toast... or most... or something.

Then I had a crazy five minutes in the capital. I had to race back to my parked car before the 3-hour ticket expired and had one 'strange' moment. After walking fast through a few crowded streets, I got to a small street which connected to the main road and seemed to be the only person there, with two others guys. They saw me and promptly tried to ridicule the way I was walking and made some rude comments my way. It was clear they were provoking a fight. I had two minutes left to get to the car. As I passed them, they insulted me again and spat at me as I rushed past. Then I got to the car in time, jumped into the car and looked through the windscreen. On the dot of expiration. And there he was, the traffic warden. As I was in the car, he couldn't give a ticket. If I'd even spoken to, let alone fought with those two 'hooligans' - the nicest word I can think of - I would've been fined.

So... strange days. I wonder what the end of the week will bring? I still have a few 'adventures' to come.

It's been a long time since I published any short pieces, I rarely write them nowadays. I've been going through the list of prompts from the last of the Iron Writer and More Odds and Ends up to the point Iron Writer finally finished, way back in late March 2021 - Yes, it has been that long.

Rebeling against Security

 ...And how about this?

Yes, what we all want is happiness, but how do we get that? Security. In our life, in our pocket, in love. When we feel secure we will all be happy. And there are many times in our lives when we ARE happy, but then when something comes along which either destroys that security, or shows a potentially stronger security for us, then we move towards what we think will make us happier. Of course, when people are in danger, this is the only option. However, most of us live dull, mediocre lives. Some of these people realise this security is a prison of their own creation and rebel against it, some don't realise it and yet still rebel. Addiction, compulsion, obsession. Whatever. We're just on this spinning rock, with the miracle of life and the finalisation of death.

So... while you're dealing with your security and happiness, how about reading a few books?

Still waiting on a review one reader gave to Amazon about two weeks ago. Do Amazon treat their larger customers like this? Nope. Clearly a class / monetary system here.

Civilisation Should Die

So... how about this?

It doesn't matter what you do. Whether you work 9 to 5, unemployed, whether you're a wealthy businessperson, or some corrupt politician. We're all in this prison we have created and allowed to take our lives. We have one life. One. And yet we've given those ignorant of their own selfish needs and desires to find a purpose in this life to dominate and 'deliver' our lives the way they think they should be. 

Isn't it time to stop and think? The hole we have dug ourselves gets deeper every day. Isn't it time to realise that is there is no God, there is no religion, and for sure there is no nation? There are no 'ism's. There is only humanity, nature and the spinning rock we find ourselves on. Deal with the problems we all face. Forget the beliefs you hold so great and realise the emptiness of them all. We are beings on a planet, running around in our 'civilisation', trying to find that 'happiness' whether it be money or power, or whatever, which are all meaningless.
